Notice Board

APPOINTMENT SYSTEM,
IMPORTANT CHANGES

In response to the findings of the National Patient Survey which highlighted the need for more Book Ahead GP appointments,
Drs Alexander, Cant & Kaye have elected to introduce a Triage Service at Kingsway which will be earmarked for patients who require an urgent on the day appointment.

These patients will be seen by our Nurse Practitioner, Janice Carroll, who will be able to deal with many of the presenting complaints and will also be able to book patients to see the on-call Doctor should the need arise.

This new way of working will allow other patients to book more easily with their GP of choice at another time. The number of book ahead GP appointments available will as a result increase from 96 to 196 per week.

The other issue that we know frustrates our patients is the difficulty they face trying to contact the surgery at 8.30am.

The Book Ahead GP appointments will therefore only be bookable from 9.00am each day. This is to ensure the patients requiring urgent on the day attention can get through to us more easily from 8.30am.

We trust the above changes will help to reduce many of the difficulties our patients currently face in accessing the services they need.

THESE CHANGES WILL COME INTO EFFECT IN THE WEEK COMMENCING 2nd AUGUST 2010

 BLOOD TESTING

From 20th July 2010 Withington WIC phlebotomists will not be taking bloods fpr GP patients on a first come first served basis - you will need to book an appointment in advance by phoning the booking centre on 0800 092 4020.

On behalf of the Phlebotomy Service we apologise for such short notice, and advise that any queries / complaints be directed to the Patient Advice & Liaison Service on 0161 219 9451.
